Moving from a traditional side-by-side made us a little nervous; we weren't sure how we were going to feel about this top/bottom food arrangement. Now that we've had our fridge for several weeks, our vote is unanimous -- all five of us love this fridge. It's spacious and well-organized. I also realized last week that our amount of food spoilage has been greatly reduced because nearly everything perishable is within eyesight and not overlooked. Since the bottom freezer pulls out, everything is easy to see at a glance (you are looking down versus bending over and looking IN). The extra, top freezer drawer is also a great feature. We were shocked at how many boxes of frozen food/snacks we could fit in this drawer in an organized fashion. As for the icemaker noise... Yes, we hear ice drop once in awhile, but it doesn't phase us. If you live in a small loft/apt where you are sleeping in close earshot of your freezer, I guess it could bother you. But we never notice it when we're in other areas of our house.
We have had Sears technicians come out to our house 3 times since on purchase in November. The last trip they replaced the left door assembly that contains the water dispenser. Water continues to drip slowly out the dispenser on the front door. We're sending it back for another....if we don't have better luck with a new one...we'll probably switch to a different brand. It's a shame...since other than that, we really like the looks & room inside the unit.

I bought this refrigerator I yr ago thought it was not going to be good because of the brand,I was always use to buying kenmore but after having a wonderful experience with my refrigerator I will sure never have a second thought before buying a Samsung appliance again.
We loved this refrigerator when we first got it. At 3 months the ice maker quit working. The ice maker was replaced. At 4 months the freezer stopped working. The coil was replaced. 2 weeks later freezer quit working again, mother board was replaced. 2 months later freezer got warm and all the ice cream melted. The compressor was replaced. This morning 9 months aftr the last service call we awoke to a warm freezer full of spoiled food. This time we were told it is irrepairable. There is a freon leak the technicians cannot find.
The service folks have been fantastic I have no complaints. Sears called me this evening to renew my service agreements and they let me know the warranty runs out at midnight. I renewed and they are sending me a voucher for a new fridge...I can promise it will not be a Samsung.
I debated about getting a frig without water in the door. I finally decided I could put a water pitcher in a frig this big and be better off. It is the best decision I have ever made. I have learned to keep many more fresh fruits and veggies because of the space for them. This frig is really an awesome purchase
Even the freezer compartment has a lot of space! We had this item for almost a year and just recently replaced the water filter. I love the energy saving button! We can set it to sav energy when we go on trips! Additionally, the power freeze button is great too!
This frig is nice except the ice maker is loud when it dumps the ice and crushes the ice. it would be nice if it did'nt dump the ice when your sleeping because it's hear through out the house. it also drops an ice cube on the floor and you step in water.
My Sear's Elite Trio top-of-the-line French Door fridge failed after only eight years. So I called for Sears service and had to wait a full week for a repairman. Then another week for a replacement part. And after another week, it failed again. So I went to a different store and purchased THIS Samsung. When it was delivered the next day (a Sunday!), 'buyer’s remorse' started to set in. The left door shelves were oddly shaped, and most things that I wanted to put in the door didn't fit. The fridge shelves were edged with a wide plastic band that is so thick that anything that sat partially on it and partially on the glass shelf, didn't sit flat. The top left shelf rests upon a lip on the top right shelf, so that the top right shelf can't be adjusted up or down without leaving the top left shelf partially unsupported. And that top left shelf is only a few inches wide, so it seemed useless, and in fact, is designed to fold up and out of the way if the right shelf is moved. That left me feeling that even though the fridge was several cubic feet larger than the one it replaced, it might have less usable space in the long run. On top of that, I noticed that the doors resisted being shut. They are kind of spring loaded to pop open, making them easier to open than most fridges, but more difficult to close than most. I was heart sick, wishing I was able to return it. That is, until I started to actually use it day after day. First, the odd-sized door shelves quickly filled with oddly-shaped and sized condiments. I adjusted the top right side shelf down and allowed the left shelf to sit partially unsupported on one side. But the shelf support system was strong enough and the shelf wide enough to hold egg cartons plus a few yogurt containers securely. I became accustomed to not using the half-inch edge of each shelf, and the fridge's and freezer's opening 'helper' springs made opening them a lot easier when they were fully loaded. (The extra effort it took to close the doors actually trained us to NOT leave the doors slightly ajar the way we used to on the old fridge.) All in all, I'm glad I choose this fridge. I just wish it was made in the USA.
We have had it over 6 months and we still love it. When you open the door, the led lights just make you want to sing. We wish it would make more ice, but really, we only entertain a large group (30+ people) only once every month or two.
Very spacious, efficient use of space, it just works well; appears to be a very well thought out design.
