In late June of 2011 I initially bought the one drawer model of this refrigerator from the Great Indoors. It malfunctioned about an hour after being in my house and customer service agreed to replace it the same day. Since Great Indoors was out of stock of the model I purchased, they upgraded me to the two freezer drawer model, which was more expensive.
The biggest plus is that the refrigerator looks very cool. The downside seems to be that it is constantly breaking. I have had the refrigerator since around the first of July 2011. Several months ago a repairman had to replace the ice maker. Now I am waiting for a repairman to come tomorrow to diagnose the latest problems, which seem to keep going from bad to worse.
It started last Sunday when I left the doors open too long to suit the refrigator while unloading groceries. The chiming alarm refused to quit chiming after the door was shut. Next I discovered that neither the ice maker nor the water dispenser was functioning - again. Third surprise was that the refrigerator section is no longer cooling. So, at the moment the only thing working is the freezer! I am afraid to turn off the alarm because the last time I tried that it turned off everything.
Customer service told me that I could reset the alarm by unplugging the refrigerator for 30 seconds. I tried that twice and it didn't work. Today is Thursday and the refrigerator has been chiming away since Sunday. They would have sent a repairrman sooner, but unfortunately it did not fit with my schedule. So, currently I have no usable refrigator section, no ice or water and constant chiming -- and a refrigator only slightly more than a year old. Personally I think two service calls on a refrigerator this age is unacceptable. I have no idea what the repairman will say is wrong when he comes out tomorrow--fortunately I do have an extended warranty.
Besides the two major breakdowns, the ice maker is a constant problem. I don't use a great deal of ice and the ice seems to melt slightly and turn into a blob. At least every third or fourth time I dispense ice I have to open the ice makeer door, take out the bin and shake it. Or, in some situations, dump all of the ice and start over. This more or less defeats the purpose of even having an ice dispenser. Plus, the latch on the ice maker door is hard to open and close.
The two bottom drawers may look neat and sound good in theory, but they do not hold a great deal. If you put too much in, sometimes things will fall out the back. If you want to keep a lot of frozen food, you will need to buy a freezer or have a back-up refrigerator.
Plus with two major breakdowns in about a year (and the original Kenmore that failed with in an hour), I would seriously suggest anyone buying this refrigerat (or any new modern refrigerator) to get the extended warranty!! I thought my previous Kitchenaid refrigator had issues, but compared to this one it was a gem. In fact, it is now in my garage and still works fine other than the ice dispenser. However, it is a little bit of nuisance to have to go to the garage to get milk while my new refrigerator chimes away in the kitchen and refuses to refrigerate.
This refrigerator replaced a 10-year-old Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator with a stated smaller capacity. However, the layout of the new model does not seem to permit storing more food. In fact, the drawer type freezer seems to hold less that the old one. And, items fall out the back of the drawers and are difficult to retrieve.
This is a very nice fridge. It is beautiful to look at and the features are nice. It has a lot of space. On the down side, there is not a lot of tall storage space if you like to keep a variety of beverages in the fridge at all times. On the up side the shelves are side-by-side so you may only need to remove one half. Also, you can lower and raise some of the door shelves, but they don't swap around from one side to the other or space to space. The ice maker has easy access and you can remove the bin to pour it into a cooler to take on the go. We tested the cost to operate and estimated the monthly cost to run, as $8.00 a month. this is at .23 cents per kwh. Most states would cost closer to $2.75 a month. Overall, we are glad we purchased this product and are enjoying the look and use of it.
we picked this up and got it home and had a problem same day. got that fixed and 2 hours later had another problem. ended up returning the fridge and went to ******* and got a samsung
Have owned this product a short time but has performed perfect so far. We are very satisfied with our selection. The two drawer bottom freezer is special in that it allowed us extra exposure to see items stored as well as better organization. The upper refrigerator storage is terrific and also has nice organization with the three drawers. We love this French Door Refrigerator.
We absolutely love this refrigerator. It hasn't missed a beat since it was delivered six months ago. The Sears installation crew was great. It has excellent refrigeration space and flexible shelving and bin options. The freezer compartments are smaller but very easy to access. The icemaker is small but efficient and has a storage bin in the freezer to store as much ice as we need. The water and ice dispenser has enough room to fit our coffee pot for filtered water. Great refrigerator/freezer.
excellent capacity and ice water dispencer take up no room from freezer
Replaced our old 27 Kitchen Aide side by side with this. Am very pleased with all the features. Very well organized. Looks are Outstanding.
This is the most beautiful refrigerator I have ever owned. The exterior is textured on the sides. The interior is well lite and and so easy to see everthing. The drawers are spacious. I really enjoy the large freezer drawer so items that I use regularly.
I really like how roomy and bright the interior of this refrigerator is. Like the other reviewers , we have had minor complaints about the ice maker / water dispenser. The ice can shoot out all over the floor. We have to cover the dispenser hole with the cup to prevent it. Also , the ice gets stuck in there far too much for a brand new unit. The temp of the water isn't as cold as I'd like either. Even with these complaints I'm glad we purchased this model with 4 doors. My biggest issue has nothing to do with the working of the refrigerator at all. The doors are not magnetic. I can't put magnets on the outside except for a small area over the dispenser. I have a couple of kids and they love to hang artwork and homework up there. The sides are magnetic, but sometimes I need to put reminders on the fridge. Guess we'll have to figure out a new system.
