I purchased the 42 inch model of this refriigerator 5 years ago and have had service men here at least once a year ever since. The compressor had to be replaced twice - the 1st time covered by warranty. It leaks on my floor every night like an untrained puppy! The temperature sensors have been replaced twice. It never has held constant temperatures within 20 degrees of the settings. I've had 8 visits by repairmen in the last 2 weeks and none of them can fix it. They all tell me to never buy a built-in refrigerator as they are nothing but trouble. H.D. doesn't even carry them anymore. I have a new Jenn Air ordered and this very expensive piece of junk will be hauled to the dump!
We purchased a different brand refrigerator when the compressor on our GE Profile (18 years old) was dying. Making a decision quickly, we opted for a smaller side by side since we no longer have our children living at home. The product was delivered on time by very courteous delivery men. But, our quick decision proved incorrect, the refrigerator was just too small and we missed some of the features on our Profile. When I called Sears to see if we could exchange the refrigerator, to my amazement they said I could (within 90 days) and there would be no restocking fee or not even another delivery fee! We started our search again, coming back every time to the GE Profile. We made our exchange, and Sears lived up to their promise of picking up the first refrigerator and delivering the Profile at no additional charge (except of course for the difference in the price of the 2 products). We are very satisified with the refrigerator (specifics include wide door shelves, more adjustable opportunities for inside shelves, a front panel on the freezer shelves, larger ice maker inside rather than the small one on the door, and a larger dispenser for ice/water, not to mention the additional capacity). But as satisified as we are with the product, our real accolades are for Sears and the way they handled our situation.
