I needed a new refigerator because my old one was running almost continuously for over a week and I did not think it was worth repairing because it was old - made in the 1980's. I feared that the old one was going to break down soon, so I did some research on-line at Sears and some other merchants. Then I set out to see what was available at my local Sears and another large retailer. I went to the other store first, and they were so busy, that I left and went down the street to Sears where I finally got someone to help me after waiting 15 minutes. She showed me different models on-line because they did not have any suitable models on display. I decided on this model because of it's Energy Star certification. I knew it was a little shorter than I really wanted, but I didn't realize how short it was until it was delivered, though. So short that I built a platform for it to sit on, and I'm not that tall - about 5' 6". The platform helped, but I still have to stoop over quite a bit to look on the top refrigerator section shelf otherwise I'm looking at the freezer door. My major problem with this appliance is that it runs too much, though. Every time I open the door it comes on and runs for a while. And, it's not because of it being hot in the kitchen - no oven or furnace going. I cannot for the life of me figure out how this refrigeraror can be Energy Star certified (meaning it uses only 355 kWh per year per the FTC Energy Guide label). The freezer comes with a small rack to set my ice cube trays on, but they hang off the sides. The doors have large racks, though. I wish there was a wire rack in the freezer to set food on instead of having it all piled up.
This was one of the few refrigerators I could find that fits in a small space. The interior is bare bones, but adequate, and the gallon door storage is nice. However, it emits a high-pitched whine, which Sears tells me is normal for this model. It may be normal, but it's certainly not satisfactory. I'm surprised Frigidaire and Sears consider this amount of noise acceptable - and my hearing isn't that good. It will go back if I can find another small-space refrigerator.
