I installed this heater in 2007. I purchased it because of the 12 year warrenty. I have had to replace it twice already due to the tank leaking. It is now leaking again. I have not had one last up to two years. Then Sears policy is they will not replace it until checked by a service person because I obviosley am not smart enough to tell that my basement is flooding due to a faulty water heater. When I called about this situation Sears told me a service person is not available for 8 (eight) days. Sears has lost a good long term customer.
Purchased to replace the broken one that we knew was going to need to be replaced soon. It's very easy to install and the performance has been great. We are family of 5, and it has had no problem keeping up with our water demands. Satisfied with our purchase so far. Looking forward to next utility bill to see how it compared to our old one on energy consumption.
Great price on this 12 year electric water heater. Very happy with the price I got it for plus with my Shop Your Way Reward Program I earned points for purchasing at Sears. Water heater replaced a previous 12 year water heater that I also purchased at Sears. I am very pleased and would recommend the Kenmore 12 Year Electric Water Heater. It was more of a value then the 6 or 9 year water heaters.
I had this unit in my house for a little over 2 years. Sears serviced the thermostats and the tank started leaking 8 days later.When we contacted Sears for service under the protection agreement we were given nothing but a runaround. It's been 4 days and we still have no hot water. We may have a new water heater tomorrow or maybe the next day. Sears communication and customer service is poor at the best.
Bought this water heater 5 years and 3 months ago , has worked flawlessly up to now . Tank started leaking . Called sears , repair man came looked it over and warranted it for us . If you let sears install it they will put the 79 dollar service charge toward the installation . Ours is very simple install so we did it ourself . Very happy with the warranty service we received .
We had previously owned a short Kenmore water heater that lasted us more that 10 years, but unfortunately it broke down last month. Since we think it's an excellent brand, we couldn't have changed it for another one.

Process was acceptable regarding the entire experience. This was a warranty replacement water heater and I was happy with the outcome.
I installed it myself using flex hoses and the push on O-ring brass connectors for my water lines. No problems and is working fine. Adjustments are easy to make and its well insulated too.
I cannot advise strongly enough to potential buyers that they NOT purchase this product. I bought one, it leaked and had to replace under warrantee. Then that one leaked. Both times had a very bad experience with customer service - without going into too many details, I was not happy with how I was treated using their warrantee. I took their advice and purchased an $800 acid neutralizer, and a $500 water softener to protect the next water heater. I bought another one of these "12 year" heaters, and it lasted about 2.5 years before leaking again, with another extremely frustrating customer service experience. That was on 10/6/09. Now IT has blown a seam, too. Unfortunately, because the leaks start so slow, they are not noticed until the flood overcomes the drainage pool, and this time I had a quarter inch of water across the entire 800 square feet of brand new wall to wall carpet on that level. Needless to say, I will not be attempting to fight with Sears again to replace it.
