As have many others that have reviewed this washer on other sites - it takes multiple rinse cycles (thus eliminating the water saving feature) to rid clothes of detergent stains...no matter how small an amount of detergent is used.
Doesn't wash your clothes if you put more than 2 sets of clothes or if you mix something different with them. Takes all day just to get 1/2 of your laundry done. It will stop in the middle of the wash cycle and you have to keep restarting it. Even on clean clean washer cycle it still stops in the middle of wash cycle. Not sanitary at all. Bought in Nov. of 2010 not happy from day 1. DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY!.
I waited to write a review on this washer. I followed the manual and also received great info from the tech that installed my washer and dryer. The new he machine sounds completely different than a traditional washer. The lid locks, unlocks, and then locks again when first starting the cycle and can not be opened to add clothes w/o pausing. Watch the "locked" light before trying to open the lid. Washing similar clothes and picking the correct settings is very important!!!! Also, learning how much soap to add is key. Always treat spots before washing. Finally, shake clothes out before placing in dryer to eliminate wrinkles. I love that the dryer can actual keep up with the washer.
Thank goodness we purchased the warranty! Since owning this product, we've had to have it repaired twice causing a weekends of clothes building up and trips to the laundry mat. When it does work, my clothes come out clean, but I'd think again before purchasing a Kenmore product.
I'm from San Antonio, TX and was raised with Kenmore appliances. They don't make them like they used to. This machine has given me nothing but problems. I had to call repair man out after first month to repair sensor. It wouldn't run through a normal cycle without stopping. The washer would then just sit there and think and think. When it did go all the way through, clothes would come out still dirty and smell funny. Now the lid won't unlock and it's out of warranty. I refuse to pay Sear's or any repair service 75 dollars just to show up at my house before there's even any repair cost. This washer is going in the trash. Thanks Kenmore. You failed this time.
I agree this washer is different and you shouldn't over load it. Other than that, I think it works great. Saves on water and cleans very well. But you MUST read the instructions. It's not like old machines.
Worst machine ever!!!! This machine is so bad that on the THIRD service call the repairman CALLED and said he wasn't coming because there was nothing he could do. Machine does not put in enough water to cover clothes - sometime I have dry spots - leaves soap film (I use HE soap and don't even use recommended amount) and leaves lint. You can watch your laundry by unscrewing the lock from the lid...you will need to insert it in to lock slot to make connection for machine to run (same as if it were still connected to lid) You will be amazed at how this machine operates - OR DOESN'T - . We purchase Protection Agreement and was told there was nothing that could be done to help us. Purchased 3/10/11. We are going to keep pursuing this to see if we can recoup any of our money and so should everyone else. THIS IS RIPPING HARD WORKING PEOPLE OFF!!!!!!! I went last night and purchased a new machine at *****'s - old style with agitator ( friends have and it works great actually WASHES.
This washer is 19 months old and we have only had problems. It was only my husband & I the first 15 mths we owned the washer, so it got very little use. Then we had a baby and used it a bit more the last 4 mths. Now we are in the market for a new one because it doesn't even work. 1)it won't spin or agitate 2)It won't drain 3)The lid lock sensor freezes in blinking mode and sometimes it won't even start or sense a load. 4) Sometimes there wasn't even enough water to wet & wash all the clothes even small loads. 5)Powdered soap always just cakes into the clothes. 6) Even the Sears rep told me it will be better to just buy a new washer because if this one is already broken we are l going to keep spending money repairing it. 7) Seems like the control board/touch screen is fried. We are going to get an old school washer without electronics that can fail. Please save your money and don't buy this!
I've had sears out 4 times in the past year. Problem still exists, never enough water, refuses to spin on rinse unless I slam the lid. Sensors have been replaced twice.
We bought this in 2011. We were very happy with it, other than the fact that it sounded like airplanes taking off over our house when it ran, until after just about one year (still under warranty) it made a horrific grinding metal on metal screeching sound and had to be fixed. Then, another year later, same thing. Then, a few months later, all of a sudden it quit draining. We're junking a less than two year old machine because repair costs would exceed what we paid for it.. This is a horrible product and I couldn't be more disappointed. DO NOT BUY THIS!
