My wife I walked in to Sears and right by the door was a wooden computer desk for sale marked, "Used" at a reduced rate (a few scratches and a drawer out of alignment). As I began to look at the desk, a Sears salesman said, "I was hoping no one bought the desk, as I had my eye on it for myself," I bought the desk moved it home in my pickup, and I adjusted the drawer in less than five minutes. I'm very happy with the desk.
If I could give 0 stars I would. First of all this is 100% particle board which means it weighs about 10 times what it should making it impossible for one person to put together. The instructions were not too difficult and it did seem to line up correctly, however the paper like coating that is the finish seems to peel off if you look at it hard. After much heavy lifting and a few curse words we were able to assemble it only to discover that not only does the top seem to want to come off if you attempt to lift it by the top but also there is a rather large crack right on the top of the desk which I didn't notice till after we put it together. I guess I am stuck with it cause there is no way I am taking it apart again and returning but I am very disappointed to say the least.
This is a nice desk. It took approximately 3.5 to assemble. Very easy step by step instructions.
I've had this desk for over 6 months and am very pleased with it. I'm 62 with back and knee problems but assembled the desk with a little help from my husband over a period of several days. Had some damaged pieces but they were replaced with little problem. It's just the right size for my small office. Hated the delivery however because the box was very heavy. The guy left it on the front porch and refused to even place it inside the front door.
Showed up in one 130 pound box. Spent 3 hours assembling, upside down per instructions. When turned over, there was a 4 inch crack in the desktop veneer. Per customer service, we have to disassemble the whole thing and return it. Desk is a nice design, but a real effort to get returned. My advice, buy locally or from .com sites that let you return items to their stores.
Sturdy attractive well made. Excellent assembly instructions. Desk came with several dings on the finish, but not enough for me to return. Each part lettered - some with stickers, some with marker on the ends. Perfect for a home office.
